Build a better future: the built environment and the Sustainable Development Goals
The built environment and the Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), agreed by world governments in September 2015, are the first global blueprint for tackling climate change, reducing poverty and inequality and creating a better future for all of us.
But during our time at Ecobuild 2018, we discovered that 58% of the people we spoke with hadn't heard of the goals. And those who had, didn't know how to get started using them.
So, using our expertise with the SDGs, we have created this practical guide which is designed to provide insight into why the goals are so important and how the sector is uniquely positioned to help achieve them.
What's in the guide?
Part one explains why the SDGs matter so much, explores the links between the SDGs and buildings, and offers some practical tips on how to get started in using them.
It also shares some of the companies getting a head start with the goals, and what they are doing.
Part two sets out potential responses to the 56 SDG targets that can be most clearly linked to the construction and property sector.
